This book is written in response to an initiative to boost research at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). All the chapters in this book have been written by the academic staff of the Department of Political Science at IIUM. Although there is no unified theme that links the eight chapters, the book strives in its entirety to reflect the four sub-areas of the discipline of Political Science, namely: International Relations, Comparative Politics, Public Administration, and Political Theory.

Elfatih A. Abdelsalam is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Previously he taught at the University of Khartoum, Sudan. He obtained a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University, USA. His specialization and research interests cover Contemporary Islamic Political Thought, Conflict and Conflict Resolution, Research Methods, and Middle Eastern Politics. He has contributed many articles in international journals and has authored and edited five books.

Garoot S. Eissa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia. He obtained a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, USA. His specialization and research interests cover Public Policy, Development Management, and Human Resource Development. He has published many articles in international journals and has authored and edited three books.
